| ZOZONSKI OMOTAC was an arts & culture TV series that was meant to be a good wind in sails of Yugoslav alternative and subculture arts. Made in earlie nineties and possibly late eighties, the show was a product of an ideal collaboration of me as it's director and Dzeni Redzepovic as its producer. I found this clip on youtube.com almost accidentally. It brings back many memories of wonderful people I had a privilege to work with such as video switcher Branko Jerkovic, editors Sasha Markanovic and Vlado Saric, set designer Vesna Ban, music consultant Marko Milovich and numerous cinematographers. The series title was playing with words and meant Geeks' Leyer, but almost sounded as Ozon Leyer. This video was probably done in 1990 or 1991. I don't remember the year, but I remember that it was shot extremely quickly, with 2 cameras in a beautiful Studio "A" of Sarajevo Television (which is now Bosnian Broadcasting). It was edited in less than half hour. The whole show, which was very heavily edited, would take just 4 to 5 editing shifts. How it was possible? I really don't now. Those editors, Sasha Markanovic and Vlado Saric, are the finest examples of their profession I have encountered, profession that is the most under-appreciated in film and TV business. Now, when I myself work as a Canadian digital video editor I can see that the show of that complexity would easily take 2 or 3 weeks of editing time! Once you leave your homeland, you might regret many things, but one I often regret is not being able to work with these people. The band you can see here is "Rupa u zidu" (Hole in the Wall) from my hometown of Tuzla. |
