So, what is the flag I bring to the battlefield? Actually I don't bring any
flags. That used to be a problem for me because it would "nurture" dialogs
like this one:
- So, what your film will be about?
- It will be about a guy who comes to Toronto from Bosnia.
- And?
- He is also a poet.
- But what it is you want to say with the story?
- Honestly, I don't know. I can tell you it's about war trauma and problems
of identity in a new country, but in fact, I really don't know.
- Do you have a script?
- No. How can I have a script for a documentary?
- Ohh, you can have a script for your documentary!
- Hmm, OK.
I later understood that most people think of documentary as a journalistic
reportage. I don't think I have a courage to walk into other people's' lives
knowing what  great ideas or concepts they will "illustrate".
That's the job for mass media.
So... I hang around and wait for the story
to tell itself, to resonate in me.

That's a journey of loosing Self and, eventually,
finding it again.
